the show, the disappointment, redemption

friday's show...there is video...
good to see some people at the
show... good to hear the other folks,
abby mott, jason dove, and mike beresh.
cool stuff and very nice people.

my set... uneventful... my throat was
so dry and the monitor was real "high
frequency" i had a hard time focusing.
some songs worked out really well...

there was an overly exuberant group
of folk in the corner... they essentially
yelled through some songs... we all
got an earful about their late night
habits.

the wife took a video of one of the songs...
i haven't seen it yet... but perhaps i can
post it if it's worth it.

the next night we played a private party
at towson university. oh this was fun. i
don't normally like playing parties... but this
was different, an after party for the closing
night of a friend/fan's play... lot's of
sound... lots of rock... lots of fun. had a
cup of cabernet... wine is becoming a bit
more attractive to me these past few years...
don't think i want to become some... expert, but
i think i want to enjoy some of them thar finer
thangz. i suppose

but anyhow... good times had...

somethin' of note... good to see kevin
as a lurker... you should see his blog...
smart... someone has been keeping up on
his reading... Lovesong of J Alfred Prufrock.

Eliot was the first computer.

I should have been a pair of ragged claws
Scuttling across the floors of silent seas

grimm

I have listened to Cora Belle many times now. Each time is better than the first. How is that for a complement? I really like it. The music is polished and sexy cool, but the lyrics make the songs special. The are short, to the point but poignant, sharp and real.
My only criticism is that the CD sort of sounds like a demo. Each song lasts about 2 1/2 minutes and stops abruptly then a whole new idea emerges, so it is kind of choppy. Yet all the songs belong together like chapters in a book, they just musically don't flow one to another quite as well as they should (my opinion of course). And some things should just take longer than 2 1/2 minutes.

I would have liked to see the Joe Squared show but it was so darn cold! I work at a college library and the students are in a frenzy to finish stuff before they go home for Thanksgiving. Kids that have not been in here all semester are now desperate for a certain item that they need for a paper that is due tomorrow. My normally quiet existance is now sped up 100x, and my warm soft sofa was too tempting to abandon on such a frigid night.
Thanks for the music.
