The New York Times Review of Books lead review is by Stephen King on a newly edited version of Raymond Carver short stories.
It seems the previous collections were severely edited by Gordon Lish. As King puts it, the new version(s) "has a satisfying symmetry that the stripped-down Lish version lacks, but it has something more important: it has heart."
yeah... i read that article... lish was an efficient editor but most likely too heavy... i had read one story about carver begging him to not publish a story and lish did anyhow...
dancing with the devil gives you blisters in other places than just your heels.
